Questions for Your Wedding Venue

Don’t Just Get Married Anywhere

If you’re ready to walk down the aisle, you should stop to consider everything that you need to sponsor an event. What theme or colors will you focus on? How many people are you planning to invite, and how many people will actually be able to make it? All of these things will play a role in how your wedding ceremony will be held, how much the reception will cost, and exactly how far in advance you will need to plan your special day. If your wedding venue is missing even one thing that you were relying on, it may not be a good fit. Choosing a mosque when you plan to have an open bar, for example, simply will not work. If you keep searching, and have a list of questions, however, you will have a much easier and less frustrating time finding a place to celebrate the happiest day of your life.

Is Alcohol Allowed?

Alcohol, for better or worse, is an extremely important part of modern weddings. Even in the cases where religion frowns upon consumption of alcohol, it is not uncommon for these rules surround temperance to be bent or broken when weddings are celebrated. If you’re planning to serve alcohol at your wedding reception, the best thing that you can do for yourself, and for everyone in attendance, is to make sure that you can actually serve the alcohol that everyone is anticipating. Some venues will not alcohol to be served for various reasons, and this is okay! If you want to serve alcohol, and this or that venue doesn’t allow this, skip this or that one. You will have plenty of other options, and you should use them.

Are Glass Containers Allowed?

Since quite a few alcoholic beverages come in glass containers, you need to make sure that you are able to bring glass containers into the venue. The other consideration for glass in your wedding venue is for decor. Most flower vases are made of glass. Ornaments can be made of glass. Props for performances during ceremonies might be made of glass. Glasses might be part of your tables, and you may have chosen glass plates. Glass can turn up in more places than you realize, so it is always wise to be careful with that, and ask these kinds of specific questions when you’re checking out a venue.

Is the Venue Accessible?

Many people know or love someone who has difficulty getting around, and this can be an issue with some of the more picturesque wedding venues. Venues located in remote areas surrounded by rough terrain, or in mountains can pose a challenge to people who are in need of assistance entering and leaving most buildings. If you know that you will be inviting anyone with difficulty getting around, always check to make sure that your venue has ramps or automatic doors. This way, no one that made the trip out to see you get married will be left in the lurch because your venue wasn’t kind to them.

Do We Have to go through Your Carter?

This is more important than you may think. If you’re wanting a special cake for your ceremony, the caterer that must be used with the venue may not have all of the tools to make your cake dreams come true, or they may not have the flavors you like. If this is the case, be advised that your selection may be limited to what the caterer is able to provide to you. If you’re set on a caterer, make sure that your wedding venue will let you choose.
